Literature Text

I escape all emotions
Nerves were poison
This cement skin felt so cold
A heart I lack
Void of presence
The floor and the room around me,
Chilling, but could not break my mental blockade,
I was not there
I saw those who were crushed,
My hysterical mind,
I felt nothing
Not human,
Only bones,
The surroundings around me were gray
Fear and pain seeping into the people,
Reactions hated to reach me,
I used to feel
I stood
I couldn't cry
Tiny fingers scraped the paint of blue
Zyklon B streaking my skin
Air was cement to my lungs
In the gas chamber
Majdanek,
Why?
This is a poem I had to make for my English class. The reason why it speaks in incomplete sentences and phrases, is because we were given one paragraph and we could only use those words in it. There was no adding your own words. It also had to relate to our latest unit, the Holocaust.
